October 31: Halloween

I’ll confess: I’m not the biggest fan of Halloween. Yes, when I was a kid I dressed up (usually as a Disney princess) but soon I was just over it. However I seem to be slightly more interested in it in the past few years (2012 – witch; 2013 – Minnie Mouse) or at least willing to dress up, provided it doesn’t take too much effort. This year my department sort of organized a group costume (at work, we had some cool group costumes with Wizard of Oz characters and a horde of zombies). Ours was Doctor Who with representatives from the 1920s, 1950s, and 1980s. As you can see, I was a flapper who hasn’t quite gotten around to bobbing her hair (I tried a few examples to fold my hair up from various online sources and my hair just would not oblige.) My boss’s door was covered in blue paper and decorated to become the TARDIS so I think it worked out as a fun nerdy costume while each could also stand individually. Did anyone else dress up?

October 30: Quilted Vest

When I look at this outfit, I wish I was wearing a (blue, green, or mustard) sweater over the gingham/under the vest and with jeans but then I remember where I live and how that outfit would make me so hot. I have been craving fall and the weather is finally starting to oblige but it’s still not that chilly except for in the mornings! Despite these complaints, I do really like this whole look. It kind of reminds me of Ginny at My New Favorite Outfit whose style I love so no surprise there. This is actually my second time wearing my new quilted vest though only the first with a picture (I kind of wanted one last year but I had trouble finding navy and not too puffy and a decent price point; flash forward to this year when my mom and sister were at Sears and texted me a picture of this one at a great price!) and I can’t wait to wear it a lot this fall/winter. I appreciate how cozy it feels without being bulky and of course I always appreciate any opportunity to wear boots. Something else I really love is my bracelet, which was a present from my dear friend Paula. I love pieces that remind me vividly of someone close to me!

October 29: Leather and Lace

Okay but seriously how awesome is it to pair a leather item with something more girly and lacy? I honestly stomped around the office today feeling a little bit of a badass just because of my skirt and boots. Both of them were considered purchases as I saw that leather is a bit of a trend this fall and I can't resist a cute pair of boots. I have already worn the boots a ton and only expect that to increase as the weather cools. The skirt is less my style but I like having it in my arsenal.

Also of note: it's been a while since I've posted and I can't believe how long my hair has grown. I started growing it partly a. because of a guy (I'm so ashamed) and then b. with the hope of donating it eventually and c. just to see how long I can get it.

Feeling Inspired

So recently my friend decided to launch her own lifestyle blog. Previously I ran a book blog but put it on hiatus during a difficult period in my life. However lately I have felt an urge to write more so I am revamping this blog to be more of a lifestyle focus. I brainstormed a few thoughts but they are in no way comprehensive or limiting. I can do whatever I want :)

Thoughts:
  • More clothing updates
  • TV/Movie/Book reviews
  • Taylor Swift "1989" reviews
  • Other pop culture thoughts
  • Musings on leadership
  • Inspirational quotes
  • Personal stories
Looking immediately forward, expect me to continue updating my backlog of pictures and to start posting my song reviews for Taylor's new album (first up is "Welcome to New York.")
