March 31: Polka Dots

It's finally the end of the month and I am so glad. I have been choosing mostly simple outfits (like this easy blouse and pencil skirt) and thus not necessarily photographing them as the craziness winds down (though seriously I love it and I know I'll miss it!) This is definitely one of my favorite looks for the times I don't have to really think about what I'm wearing. It also makes me glad for investing in some beloved pieces-I'm not sure what gets more wear than my black pencil skirt!

March 26: Jury Duty

I had jury duty today. Though I have always wanted to serve (my family views our civic duty as encompassing dutiful tax-paying, faithful vote casting, and serving jury duty when called), it came at an inconvenient time as I am still rushing to finish everything (I really do think April will be quieter.) I wasn't really sure what to wear so I went for something fairly professional. In comparison to most everyone else, I was way overdressed but I was comfortable. Just my luck-I got put into jury selection but luckily I was not chosen. Instead I ran back to the office for a couple of hours just to get a few more items crossed off my list.

March 24: Chambray

Ah chambray, how I love thee. I couldn't wait to pair my chambray tops with my snazzy striped skirt and I finally did that today. I decided to start with my darkest from J. Crew and of course I rolled up the sleeves in their special technique (I'm basically incapable of not rolling up my sleeves now-it's perfect when your office climate tends to be a bit on the warm side for your taste.) It looks kind of dark in this picture but I thought it looked really nice in person.

March 21: Casual Friday

At last we reach the end of the week (though usually Monday is my favorite day, I have come to appreciate Fridays more now)! I kept it very light and easy with my favorite t-shirt and my new favorite style of jeans (boyfriend from Old Navy as I referenced yesterday). I'll be honest and confess that I did not wear the heels at work, which is good because I was running around making copies and mailing thousands of pages of paper (but also completing a huge subsection of a project). I actually wore nude patent flats and slipped on the heels when I got home to show how I originally envisioned this outfit.

March 20: Boyfriend Jeans

I bought some boyfriend jeans from Old Navy this past weekend after seeing commercials for them pretty constantly (I am highly susceptible). I ended up getting them in this dark wash as well as a lighter one AND I discovered I can buy a size smaller (though this is a pretty sad reason, it does fill me with glee.) Since I tend to feel guilty about wearing jeans to work on a Thursday, even though it's allowed, I decided to dress this up with a blazer and wedges. I felt very comfortable in it but I'm not really sure it photographs that well...

March 19: Chambray Uniform

I realize I definitely do have a kind of uniform for when I'm not really sure what to wear. I pick out one of my three chambray shirts and combine it with one of my many black skirts and then we're done! I have gotten so much wear from these babies and I'm glad I have them in light (as seen below), medium, and dark washes. Basically I know that if I'm wearing this, I'm ready for work at my business casual office and I'll be comfortable all day-isn't that a nice thing to know?

March 7: Leather and Lace

One of my favorite looks lately is lace toughened up by a moto jacket OR leather softened by lace, however you want to frame it. Since I think my look tends to be on the girlie side, I'm glad I own some pieces like this jacket to switch things up. To add some more visual interest, I am wearing leopard print flats though my camera phone never really picks up on these details :P

March 6: Pinterest

So how excited was I to see this outfit on Pinterest right after I bought a striped skirt? As you can guess, pretty psyched! It's definitely not a color combination I would have picked on my own and the cool thing is that I have this blazer in pink, orange, and green, all of which I think would be suitable outfits; I will need to try that out!

As for the skirt, it is so comfy! It's from Old Navy, which has been making me so happy clothing wise and it doesn't zip, it's just super stretchy, which is a change for me. In fact this whole outfit was very comfortable and that's always a win in my book.
