February 25: Peter Pilotto, Take 3

And now we come to my final Peter Pilotto piece. This dress was the reason I looked at the collection in the first place. Again I appreciate that I don't really need to accessorize it because it grabs attention all on its own. I mean, it even came with the belt. Oddly this ended up being my least favorite of the three pieces I bought-the sleeves are just kind of weird. Still I'm glad to have this dress in my arsenal for when I really need to bring the flash. I'm sure it will be worn a few more times this year easily.

February 24: Black and White

I am writing this post a little on the late side so I can only speculate that I picked this outfit because I wanted to wear my navy skirt and I wasn't sure how else to incorporate it because the color never seems to go with anything in my wardrobe. And it doesn't photograph well-I initially thought this was just a black pencil skirt except that I can see the leather waistband that reminded me that it was the navy one instead. It looks like I also took the opportunity to wear my fave heels so that's always exciting and of course I have my pearl headband :)

February 21: Peter Pilotto, Take 2

I am so in love with this dress! Naturally I like it on its own but I got a bunch of compliments at work today so that makes me fall even more in love with it (I'm kind of vain like that). I got called like the fourth of July and told how the bright pattern fits my personality so well. I did add the sash because the dress kind of looked like a sack on me without it. I especially like how I didn't need any jewelry beyond a pair of pearl earrings-such an easy showstopping outfit!

February 19: Professional

I was actually inspired by a color combination seen on Pinterest. One of my friends reposted it for a professional work outfit idea and it reminded me again that I need to wear my green blazer more. My mom liked it because she said she hadn't thought of the green/gray combo. I'll admit it didn't occur to me either because I pretty much always wore this with a black skirt. Of course, being me, I wore my gray pencil skirt instead of pants. The exciting part of this outfit though are my shoes. Monday was President's Day so I had it off and my mom and I celebrated in grand American style: by shopping. Our outlet mall has a Nine West where I scored this classic black patent pumps with platform. I am pleased to report that they are SO comfortable-I wore them all day with zero pain (I mostly sat though so will need to wear the shoes more to confirm this suspicion.)

February 20: Peter Pilotto

So I stayed up to midnight to score my Peter Pilotto clothing and they shipped February 9. Guess when I got my items? I hope you guessed yesterday because of course I wasn't going to wait to wear them. That's 10 days, which seems absurdly long for clothes only shipping within the continental US! But they arrived and I love all three pieces (a dress picture will be posted tomorrow and also next Tuesday). Today's feature is a skirt from the collection that pairs marvelously with a new top from the local Ann Taylor Factory Store near me. I initially envisioned this skirt with a black tee or white tee with black moto jacket but I think this softer look is more me. I look forward to trying other looks in the months to come.

February 18: Mismatch

I wasn't really sure what I wanted to wear and this outfit ended up being a bit of a mismatch with my pretty white dress, statement necklace, and boots. I like each piece individually but the flow is kind of missing for me. Of course, the thing to note is that I didn't wear a cardigan because we are having unseasonably warm weather. It's probably nicer now than it will be in June! [We have June gloom then.]

February 13: Easy Dressing

I basically copied Tuesday's outfit with slightly different colors though I also had an inspiration picture for it. It is a stressful time at work so anything I can do to make things easier for me is very good. This was so easy to wear and I felt comfortable all day!

Sweater: Charter Club Cashmere from Macy's
Skirt: Asos-it never seems to photograph as green though it is

February 12: Argyle

I don't think I've worn this sweater at all this winter so I decided to pull it out. I initially thought I'd wear it with my white pencil skirt but decided to switch it up with white jeans tucked into boots. I'm not sure that this is my favorite look but I'm glad I tried it out. I'm also glad I wore jeans as I had some printer issues at work and a pencil skirt would have been uncomfortable.

February 11: Skater Skirt

I felt pretty lazy this week so I didn't want any elaborate outfits. Instead I relied on my fallbacks: cashmere and skirts. This brought together my super soft cashmere sweater and a beloved skirt. I feel like this inspiration picture is a lot fancier than my version but I also think that both look nice so whatever...

Inspiration:

Sweater: Charter Club Cashmere from Macy's
Tank: American Eagle (because cream is too light)
Skirt: Charlotte Russe
Tights: Nordstrom's
Shoes: Payless
Necklace: Gift
Ring: Charlotte Russe
Earrings: Rue 21-I swear I am wearing all this jewelry though I can never photograph it very well.

February 10: Contrast

While planning for this week, I had several thoughts on what I wanted to wear and I finally decided to begin the week by copying this outfit from Ginny at My New Favorite Outfit. I can't find the exact post in which she wore this (I had saved it down on my desktop) so I am linking to her homepage. I wouldn't have thought of that precise color combination but I'm glad I decided to mix it up and take a page from her book.

Peter Pilotto for Target

Peter Pilotto for Target:
Like many style bloggers, I was excited to see the new capsule collection at Target. I was not familiar with the designer and I was a little cowed by the prints at first. However, after seeing the commericals more, I realized that it was very much my style. My fashionable coworker even commented that it seemed made for me. So I decided to brave buying online (my experience buying Mossimo in stores was marred by the fact that my store didn't have the one piece I wanted most).

Promptly at 9 PST, I started refreshing the Target website and twitter eventually noticing that people anticipated the collection being dropped after midnight PST. So I decided to take a nap until 11:45 PM. I kept refreshing and spotting links on twitter that never worked for me. Shortly after midnight, I saw a tweet saying to view the collection as "details." I made the switch and was able to add my pieces to my cart in my usual sizes and check out by 12:03 AM

Then shortly before noon, I received an email that my order has shipped leaving me very optimistic that I'll get them this week. I've heard that the pencil skirt runs small and the dresses are true to size or even run large so we'll see how the fit works and I'll keep you posted!

Planning for the week:
Though I stumbled last week with my planning (unforeseen circumstances), I managed to plan out my work outfits already. I'm wearing a skirt or dress every day (big surprise!) but the most interesting point for me was to realize that on Tuesday and Thursday, I'm wearing cashmere sweaters with skater skirts. That's probably pretty close to my ideal outfit so it's not surprising but I usually try to mix it up a bit more. I'm giving myself grace on this point because it's my crazy-busy time at work. I will wear what is easy and comfortable so I can focus my energies on my work.

February 7: Wear Red for a Day

On Thursday, my workplace sent out an email about wearing red on Friday as part of heart disease awareness. My family has a horrid track record with that so I knew I would be donning red. While perusing my wardrobe, I was less than impressed with my red options until my mom suggested I borrow her red cashmere sweater. I happily accepted and bounded off to work in that and my super-soft incredibly comfortable jeggings, resulting in a very comfortable day. For necklaces, I experimented with layering two, both bearing my "S" monogram though this picture is the most clear. I thought it was a cute look and I'm glad I tried changing things up a teensy bit.
Sweater: Charter Club Cashmere from Macy's
Belt: Croft and Barrow from Kohls
Pants: Lauren Conrad Jeggings from Kohls
Shoes: Shoedazzle

Necklaces: Baublebar and really old from uncertain source

February 6: Rain

It was actually kind of a rainy day today, which you can see from the overcast light of this picture. It's much darker than my pictures usually are as I take them in the same location at roughly the same time. This picture is also a departure because I had my hair tied back. Per usual, I cuffed my sleeves-I hardly ever can stand to leave them rolled down anymore now that I know the J. Crew technique.

Shirt: Aeropostale
Tank: Eddie Bauer
Necklace: Baublebar
Skirt: Banana Republic
Shoes: I actually can't tell-I think they're black American Eagle from Payless

February 5: Elegant Picture

For work, we took a quick group picture today emulating the one taken December 12. Since I knew I looked good that day, I reached back and grabbed the same sweater, changing up the skirt only to incorporate my new favorite. As we continue to be blessed with beautiful weather, I also didn't bother with tights or anything. I don't know what it is with pearls but they just broadcast elegance to me so that's always my go-to adjective for describing my posts when I don't know what else to say.

February 4: Pattern Mixing

I didn't feel very excited about Monday's outfit so I didn't bother to photograph it. It was my beloved light blue chambray with whatever pants. I was more interested in sharing this outfit though it's a little hard to see. The blouse is polka dot so it makes a fun contrast with the leopard print scarf in my opinion, not that you can really tell from this photo. I dressed it up with my slightly flippy skirt and wedges, fancy me!
