October 29: Edgy Prep

This is late because I've had some problems with my camera. Even now I can see that my pictures aren't fully capturing some details.

This look was partly inspired by my friend Natalie and her description of "Edgy Prep." I just adore Natalie as a person but also her style, which has gotten me interested in J.Crew. I already had the sweater in mind to wear with my skirt but added the collared shirt and necklace because of her.

Shirt: American Eagle, super old-no idea when I got this
Sweater: J. Crew Factory-just bought during their big anniversary sale; it's not important for this outfit but it has suede elbow patches and is mint green in the back.
Skirt: Charlotte Russe-I wasn't sure how I felt about the whole leather trend so I didn't want a full leather skirt and didn't want to spend too much on it.
Tights: Nordstrom's-fancy!
Shoes: Payless
Necklace: Pearls-old
Bracelet: J. Crew Factory

October 8: Pattern Mixing

This past weekend I was struck with boldness. I wanted to mix two patterns. AlAS I don't have that many pieces with patterns, tending to prefer solids. However I do have polka dots and a few striped shirts so after checking with Pinterest about the trendiness of this, I decided to throw caution to the wind and wear this striped shirt with my polka dot skirt, trusting in the simple black and white combo to make it work. As a bonus, I've been feeling very confident lately so I hoped that the strength of my personality would really tie everything together.

My parents were skeptical but my coworker K, one of the most fashionable people I know, applauded me while saying she would not be to wear such a style. I happen to think she's wrong but it does seem to take some guts.
 Top: LOFT
Skirt: Forever 21
Shoes: Yeswalker (probably my faves)

October 7

I wasn't really sure what to wear this week but it seems like it will end up being a pretty black and white week, as I break out some of my new fall pieces which were invariably those colors. I don't know that this photographed very well but I felt really good while wearing it so that's always a plus. Additionally it was very comfortable, perfect for our weather here, and easy to change out of for my lunch-time workout. Polka dots are my favorite pattern and I think the black lace at the arms adds a touch of intrigue. I had feared it might be itchy but it was not.
Top: LOFT
Skirt: The Limited
Shoes: Famous Footwear
Earrings: Philadelphia Eagles Logo in celebration of their win
Pearls: Macy's

October 4: Sparkly

Today was casual Friday as usual and though I didn't want to go too casual, I didn't want to be as fancy as I am the rest of the week. So the base is just a white tee with jeans but I classed it up with metallics. The quality of this picture isn't the best but it's actually a sparkly silver cardigan. Plus my pink keds have silver glitter on the laces. Then I have silver earrings, a silver ring, and a silver/gold necklace. I knew I looked fabulous and it was a great day at work!
Shirt: Everlane Tee
Cardigan: Apt 9 from Kohls
Jeans: Lucky Jeans-I hadn't worn them in ages and they were so stiff
Shoes: Keds
Ring: Kohls
Other jewelry and accessories: Not sure

October 3: Blue-Collared Worker

At some point, I swear I saw a picture of a girl all in denim with bootie heels. So I attempted to emulate that but I lost track of the picture somehow. This is what I threw together. It made me think of a few things like how happy I am as a white collar worker in a nice office. I also love all the blue going on though this is not a Canadian tuxedo because the top is chambray. I also love the feminine details of pearls and heels-otherwise it might be too manly. Please also note that the sleeves of this shirt are rolled-up a la J.Crew's guide.
Top: Lyocell Safari Top from American Eagle
Jeans: Actually jeggings from American Eagle-the most comfortable things!
Belt: Super old-it's practically the only one I wear with jeans
Booties: Also old; from Nordstrom Rakc

October 2: (Old-School) Taylor Swift

Though I didn't realize it when I was putting this outfit together, I feel like it is kind of a nod to the fabulous Miss Swift who I adore, particularly her older style. I walked around singing "Our Song" and "Tim McGraw" all day in my head.

First up is the inspiration, which I originally spotted on Pinterest but did not pin, just saving it to my desktop. I saw it and thought, "I have a white dress and a very beloved mint cardigan. I can wear this!" So I did.
 My version:
If I was smarter, I would have cut off my face too and I did not check the picture this morning or I wouldn't have put the belt over the cardigan. Oh well, live and learn! I love how the belt and the boots go together although this was their last hurrah as I noticed some cracking on them.

Dress: Joe Fresh from JC Penney's
Cardigan: J. Crew Tippi Cardigan
Boots: Really old from Payless
Belt: No idea-from a dress
Bracelet: Pearls

I just really love the contrast of the fluffy white skirt with the tougher boots and how the colors all play together. The full skirt is fantastic (I'm looking to get just a black skirt in similar) and I felt so pretty all day, doing my twirling and dancing throughout my work day :)
