August 5-Pinterest

Today's look comes from Pinterest-just me browsing ways to style a chambray shirt and involves me making quite a few of my own changes.
There are so many things I love about this look! First is my beloved American Eagle lyocell (Chambray) shirt-I've only worn it two or three times but it's already one of my favorites. I paired it with this Forever 21 skirt from my sister. Both are lighter in shade than the example but I think that works. Then I added a belt that serves no functional purpose but maybe defines my waist a bit? And then instead of pumps, I went with boots. My coworker thought I looked like I was going to go line dancing which kind of made me laugh. I also think my hair looks okay here. Liking my hair is a constant struggle for me so that is nice.

August 2nd: Natalie

Today's outfit was pinned by my friend Natalie on one of her style boards. Though I cannot wear shorts at work (and don't own any like this), I love the combination of the blue with the black and white so I decided to sub in a black and white polka dot skirt. Then I paired it with my favorite blue top and black flats with a strap (though I do own black and white flats, I prefer this pair.) Though this doesn't match the inspiration as closely as yesterday's look, I love the blue shirt so much that I don't really care!

August 1st: J. Crew

This is actually the look that inspired this project-I kept looking at it and thinking that I actually pretty much had this outfit in my closet and thus didn't need to spend more money at J. Crew to copy it.

I just bought a JC Penney's Worthington black suit jacket (in July so that money doesn't count in my August total) so that was the base. Then I wore an old Eddie Bauer white button-down, my favorite pair of Lucky Jeans and black Target pumps. Lastly I added my Talbots Outlet pearls-a crazy long string that I wrapped twice around my neck to get the right length. I added pearl earrings, a hair-clip, and a ring since I'm newly obsessed with them.

I did not wear a baseball cap for several reasons. First I only like baseball caps that actually have baseball teams on them. Second if I did that, I'd either have to wear my Phillies cap (the red would be far too loud) or support the Chicago White Sox or similar team-wasn't going to happen.  Third I can't wear a hat at work unless it is a themed day. So I went without but still clipped back my hair to ensure the right look. I was so happy picturing this look and I think it turned out well :)
